House prices fall for fifth month
House prices in England and Wales fell for a fifth month running in February, pushing the annual rate of inflation to its lowest since April 2006, a survey showed on Monday.

Sales volume up in January
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has released new figures today showing an increase in sales volume of 0.6 per cent in the three months from November to January. The figure is slightly up from the 0.6 per cent rise recorded in the three months to December.

Retail sales rebound in January
Retail sales rebounded in January after the worst December in three years, a survey showed on Tuesday, suggesting consumer spending may be slowing but is not about to collapse.
The British Retail Consortium said sales values last month were 2.6 percent higher, on a like-for-like basis, than in January last year. Total sales, which include new floorspace, were 4.9 percent higher. Both rates were the highest since September.

House prices unchanged in January
House prices in Britain held steady in the month of January, according to HBOS Plc's Halifax house price survey on Tuesday.
That took the annual three-month rate of house price inflation down to 4.5 percent and the average house price to 197,244 pounds.
