Home Retail full year profit up 15%
Home Retail Group has reported a rise in full year sales of 2.3 per cent to £9,985 million. The company, which owns Argos and Homebase, added that its pre-tax profit for the 52 weeks to 1 March 2008 had risen 15 per cent to £433 million.

House prices down in April
House prices dropped for the seventh consecutive month in April, according to a survey by Hometrack. The group which monitors house prices said that average house prices were down across half the country by 0.6 per cent over the month. Hometrack said that the annual rate of growth was now -0.9 per cent, the lowest since January 2006.
