London - Good news, folks. Remember Nexus One? The codename for the Google phone that is reportedly being made by HTC? Well, if tech blogs are to be believed, it is one mean phone that looks good enough to eat iPhone for breakfast.

According to Endgadget and other tech blogs, Nexus One will be powered by the super-fast Qualcomm QSD82350 (Snapdragon) 1GHz processor and will boast of a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen; 5-megapixel camera with 2x digital zoom, autofocus and LED flash; A-GPS (with Google Maps); 3G; WiFi; GPRS; EDGE; Bluetooth; 512MB RAM; 3.5mm audio jack; stereo speakers; in-built microphone; microSD card slot (expandable up to 32GB; Nexus One will reportedly ship with 4GB card) and microUSB port.
Other bells and whistles include onscreen keyboard, digital compass, accelerometer sensor, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor. The phone will also reportedly ship with preinstalled Google apps and services such as Google Talk, Google Voice, Google Search by Voice, Google Calender and Gmail besides social networking apps such as Facebook, Orkut, Twitter and MySpace.
Unlike iPhone, the Google phone will sport a user changeable battery but it will not support multitouch functions.
Word is also out that the Google phone will be a wee bit slimmer and lighter than iPhone but the difference will be unnoticeable.
And, yes, Nexus One will run on Android 2.1 platform.
Sounds exciting? But don't expect to get your hands on this device anytime soon unless you’ve got friends in high places – in Google, to be precise. Why? Because, initially, Google will reportedly sell this device strictly on invitation-only basis with a T-Mobile contract.
