Kings of Leon reign supreme at top of singles charts

Last week "Sex on Fire" by the Tennessee group went straight to number one, knocking Katy Perry's saucy global hit "I Kissed a Girl" from the top of the singles charts. The American singer-songwriter had to be content again with second spot.

The U.S. racked up an impressive one, two, three as girl pop group the Pussycat Dolls' "When I Grow Up" climbed one to three, while British boy band McFly was up 19 places to four in a top 10 that had just one new entry at 10 - Will Young's "Changes".

In the album charts, Metallica's "Death Magnetic" mirrored the Kings of Leon's success, holding on to the top position having gone straight in at No. 1 last week.

Ne-Yo and "Year of the Gentleman" was a new entry at two, while Rihanna's "Good Girl Gone Bad" was a non-mover at three.

There were two other new entries in the top 10 of the album charts, with Queen and Paul Rodgers entering at five with "The Cosmos Rocks", while rapper Mike Skinner's The Streets came in at seven with "Everything is Borrowed".

The Kings of Leon's album "Because of the Times", which has been in the album charts for 76 weeks now, rose nine places to 12.
