Second youth held over 14-year-old's murder
A second teenager has been arrested in connection with the murder of Shaquille Smith, a 14-year-old boy stabbed to death in east London at the weekend.
Smith died from a stab wound to his abdomen after becoming involved in a fight with a group of youths on Saturday night in Hackney. He was the 25th teenager to die violently in London this year.
His 16-year-old sister also suffered wounds to her face and neck in the incident but her injuries were not serious.
His family said Smith had a "unique character and common touch" in a statement issued via the police.
" would have both taken him to the top and maintained him in that position," they added.
"He was a tough individual with a lot of drive, with an easy going and pleasurable-loving nature.
"He had a large measure of star quality, which attracted people of all ages and nations to him."
He was an "unfussy", hardworking boy who loved his family, they said.
Police said a 17-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday and was being questioned at an east London station.
Earlier on Wednesday, a 19-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody. There were no further details.
