Balfour Beatty trading strong

Balfour Beatty said on Wednesday that trading in the year to date continued to be strong despite worries of a slowdown in the property market. The construction company said that its confirmed order book was worth £11.8 billion at the end of May, up £400 million since the end of 2007.
Among the company's newest order is a $330 million deal to contract for the 281 North Toll road project in San Antonio, Texas. The firm has also been named as the preferred bidder for the widening and maintenance of the M25 motorway in the UK.
Balfour said, "We anticipate that order intake and trading performance will remain strong throughout the year and that we will make good progress in 2008."
