BA increase fuel surcharge for premium flights
British Airways has raised fuel surcharges for its First class, Club World and World Traveller Plus passengers on its flights to offset higher fuel prices.
The affected passengers will find themselves paying as much as £24 per flight more than economy fliers.
A spokesman for British Airways said the increased charge was "appropriate" given that premium passengers get more cabin space and a larger baggage allowance, reports the BBC.
Fellow airline Virgin Atlantic also has higher fuel charges for premium fliers, although charging different surcharges for different classes of flight is a first for British Airways.
At the start of 2008 the fuel surcharge for a single British Airways flight of over nine hours was £58. Now the surcharge is £109 for economy class, £121 for World Traveller Plus and £133 for Club World and First Class.
