Informa in talks to merge with UBM

Media company, Informa confirmed on Sunday that it had received an approach from United Business Media (UBM) for an all share merger. Informa said discussions were only at a preliminary stage and that there was no certainty of a deal being concluded.
Should the merger go ahead the resulting entity would have a market capitalisation of around £3 billion.
Shares in both companies shot up at the news, with Informa shares rising 15 per cent to 444.8 pence per share, whilst UBM shares increased 4.2 per cent to 631 pence per share.
