BAE lands $1.66bln deal with US Army
BAE Systems Plc has landed a $1.66 billion (£85 million) fixed price contract with the Pentagon to supply 10,000 medium tactical vehicles to the US Army, the Pentagon said on Monday.
According to BAE, the US Army has the option of expanding the deal for an extra 10,000 vehicles, which would take the value of the deal to $2.2 billion. BAE said that the deal currently covered the provision of 8,400 Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) and 1,600 trailers.
FMTV trucks include vehicles such as cargo trucks, tractors, front loading systems and the newly developed Low Velocity Air Drop trucks.
Included in the contract is program support, which will last until the end of 2010, reports Reuters.
In the 2007 fiscal year BAE was the Pentagon's sixth largest supplier, being awarded $9.2 billion in contracts. The company has already provided the US Army with 48,000 vehicles.
