Michael skids out of "The Apprentice"
Telesales executive Michael Sophocles was fired from "The Apprentice" after trying to persuade passers-by in London's Portobello road market to rent a Ferrari from him.
The 25-year-old, who has frequently been summoned to the boardroom as a loser, was kicked off the reality business show after bringing in only about a fifth of the opposition's revenue.
The teams were told to rent out a selection of top-end cars including Ferraris, Aston Martins, Lamborghinis and a Pagini Zonda.
Michael, who insisted he was a great seller, took his Ferrari to a quiet side street in Knightsbridge where he was forced to chase potential customers.
After getting his cars mixed up, he moved to the more downmarket Portobello.
"Do you honestly think you were going to sell cars at Portobello road market," Alan Sugar asks in the boardroom.
Michael's team-mate Helene Speight came close to being fired after failing to sell, which she put down to a lack of direct sales experience.
"You can't sell. On this task you didn't sell one bean," said Sugar. "Let me tell you something, he (Michael) is a disaster zone, and you may be wondering what he's still doing here, but he's very young and he does have some good points about him.
"She (Claire) has got a mouth the size of the Blackwall Tunnel but is a great salesperson and a great presenter, and I've seen some great things from her. You - I see nothing."
He went on: "Helene, I don't mean to be rude. But your posture reminds me of the Mona Lisa. (You have this) one sole expression with you all the time."
