Southern Cross revenue drops
Southern Cross Healthcare Group Plc said on Monday that its total revenue for the half year to 30 March 2008 went up 28.2 per cent to £431.2 million. The company said that revenue relating to acquisitions had also risen from £9.0 million in the first half of 2007 to £20.1 million in the first half of 2008.
Southern Cross earns around 70 per cent of its revenue from providing care services to local authorities. The company said that its number of beds had risen 14.4 per cent to 37,084 and that its underlying average weekly fee had risen 6.0 per cent to £515. Underlying occupancy rates of beds fell however from 91.1 per cent to 90.4 per cent.
The company said that its interim dividend was re-based and had increased 50 per cent to 3.75 pence per share.
