EDF has bid alone for British Energy
Posted 10 May 2008 @ 07:02 am GMT
French utility EDF has submitted a takeover proposal for UK nuclear generator British Energy, sources familiar with the matter said on Friday.
The Paris-based company, which sources familiar with the matter had said planned to bid "substantially less" than 700 pence per share, has made its offer alone rather than with a partner, said the sources.
EDF could however yet tie up with a rival like energy supplier Centrica later in the process, said the sources.
EDF and British Energy declined to comment.
