RWE not bidding for British Energy
Posted 09 May 2008 @ 10:52 pm GMT
Germany's RWE, Europe's fourth-largest utility, is not bidding for British Energy, the Handelsblatt newspaper reported, citing unidentified people in the finance industry.
A potential takeover would not make sense financially as Swedish utility Vattenfall is not prepared to bid together with RWE for the operator of nuclear power stations, the German paper said on Friday.
RWE declined to comment on the report.
