Disney profits up 22%
Posted 07 May 2008 @ 08:35 am GMT
Disney has reported a 22 per cent rise in its profits in the three months ended 29 March, compared to the same period last year. In total Disney earned $1.13 billion in the period thanks to sales of its movies and at its theme parks.
Disney's studio revenues rose 18 per cent, helped by new releases "National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets" and "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds". Revenue at Disney's theme parks and resorts also rose by 11 per cent to $2.7 billion.
Disney said that its results for theme parks were boosted by the fact that the earlier Easter holiday fell under the second quarter rather than the third quarter this year.
