easyJet sees rise in seat revenue
Budget airline easyJet saw a rise in total revenue per seat of 0.5 per cent to 36.98 in its first quarter, the company said today. The airline said the rise was driven by strong growth in passengers not originating from the UK.
The company also said that it expected full year pre-tax profit to be around 20 per cent. For the first quarter (1st October 2007 31st December 2007) the company reported a rise in total revenue of 14.1 per cent to 418 million.
The company also commented that its takeover of GB Airways last year would cause a slightly higher than usual pre-tax loss of around 7 million in the first half of the financial year, due to higher spending on marketing. Costs of integration for the full year are expected to be around 12 million.
easyJet also released its traffic figures for January today, reporting a rise in passenger numbers of 7.3 per cent on the previous month. However the airline also saw a drop in load factor (number of seats bought as a proportion of those available) of 2.9 per cent down to 72 per cent.
